                                     From the Legion Commander:

I Hope everyone has had a great Christmas with family and friends and about to enjoy the New
Year.  Time really has flown by this year it seems like it was just yesterday that it was 80 degrees
outside.  Anyway we have started on our calendar for year 2010 and it is full.

We have two Fish Fries in January planned one on the 8th and the second one on the 22nd.  They will
begin at 5:30 pm and go till we run out of fish or until 7:30 pm whichever comes first.  We of course
need volunteers to help prepare, cook, and serve these meals.  Be a volunteer and call us.

The Michigan Home for Veteran’s will be here January 9th for Bingo between the hours of 1 to 5
pm.  The door and bingo prizes (cash) have been provided by Chemical Bank again this year.
Chemical Bank has been our partner on several occasions and we thank them very much.  We will be
inviting the public to help with this bingo and need the help from members of all the organizations to
make this and enjoyable time for the Veterans.  Volunteer to make a great day even better.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, January 4, 2010, social hour and dinner at 6:30 pm with the general
meeting at 7:30 pm.  The bar & Operations meeting will be 6:30 pm, Officers meeting at 7:00 pm, and
the Executive Officers meeting at 7:30 pm all on Monday, January 4, 2010.  Please, plan on attending
these meetings.

                                                                     From the Auxiliary

Hello Ladies!!

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas.  I would like to thank everyone that helped and participated
in the Children’s Christmas Party.  We had lots of children (and parents) to enjoy the fun, food,
Santa and the Magician.  A big Thank You goes out to John Crissman for donating the Hamburg for
the BBQ’s.

The Auxiliary is having its first Euchre Tournament on January 2nd.  Sign up will begin at noon with
play at 1:00PM.  Please bring your partner and an appetizer to pass.  The other dates are scheduled
for February 6th, March 6th (annual Soup Cook-off), and April 3rd (annual Brown Bag Auction).

The Auxiliary, along with the Cascade Winery, is sponsoring our first Wine Tasting Event scheduled
for January 29th.  The hours of this event will be from 5:00PM to 9:00PM.  Watch for more details to
be posted at the Legion.

Our next meeting is our Christmas Dinner meeting.  Social hour will be at 6:00PM at the Legion with
dinner at the Monterey Grill at 7:00PM.  Once again we will NOT be doing a gift exchange.   Please
come and enjoy food and friendships.  There will be a sign up sheet posted at the Legion.  Our next
regular meeting is scheduled for February 10th.l

Make a great day….Kristen Lazarski

                                                           From the SAL Commander

Thanks to all those who helped out on the Operation Food Panty/Christmas Project. Because of your
efforts we are able to assist over 20 families this Holiday Season. This is great example of Community
Service by our Post.

We will be having a Super Bowl Party in combination with a membership drive in 2010. More details
will be developed at our next membership meeting. Bill Neil, John Arrigo and Charlie McConnon
will chair this committee. Please contact them if you want to be involved in this project.

We have provided donations to the Santa Claus Girls and the Homeless Veterans this Holiday
Season.

Please remember that your dues need to be paid by 12/31/2009 to avoid a late penalty. Chuck Clark
is waiting to hear from you!

Our next meeting is scheduled for 1/11/2010 @ 7:00 pm with happy hour @ 6:00pm. Hamburgers will
be available starting @6:00 pm. We had a great turnout at our last meeting . Get involved with your
Squadron and remember Uncle Spud needs you!

                                                             ALR NEWS

Hello Legion Riders,

I hope the holidays were good for you! Just a couple of brief items this month.
We are on the calendar for March 20th, which is the first day of Spring for our Spring Kick-off party.
We need volunteers to make this event happen, and we really need to get started with the planning.
Please let me know if you can help.

We are also on the calendar for June 12th, which will be the fundraiser that we talked about doing
for the Homeless Vets and Veterans Home. More details to come. Again, we will need volunteers to
make this happen.

Please keep Saturday January 9th open on your schedule for our Veterans Home Bingo. We will be
hosting a group from the Veterans Home to play bingo. We will need help that day with food
preparation, and assisting the veterans. The event will be from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. If you plan on
helping, I would be there no later then 12:30 PM.

The ALR will be providing gift bags for the vets again.
For those that already have or are heading south, please be careful in your travels and we will see you
in the spring.

Gary Middleton, we wish you well with your recovery!

Spring is just around the BIG corner.....
