|American Legion Post 305 - December - 2018
From the Legion Commander
Hello Legion Family,
November came with another celebration of Veterans Day and as always we had a packed house. We had
multiple generations of Veterans at the service including a World War II veteran. A big thanks goes out to the
Auxiliary for providing a wonderful meal to all the Veterans in attendance and their families. The Sons of the
American Legion provided a spectacular salute to our Veterans past, present, and still serving. These events
mean a lot to our Veterans and I could not be prouder than the way our Legion honors them. Thanks for all the
support to make this service possible. We also provided an Honor Guard for the Emmons Lake Elementary
School’s Veterans Day program. They provide a wonderful service for our Veterans in the community and this
marked their 11th annual service.
We will also be supporting the Caledonia Christmas parade on 1 December. A big thanks to all members of the
Honor Guard for taking part on a cold evening to represent our Legion. Our annual Christmas party is on
December 8th and is always a great success. Thanks to all for making this event so wonderful for all.
I also Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! On behalf of Kelly and myself we wish the entire Legion
Family a Very “Merry Christmas”!
We will have our next executive board meeting on the 3rd of December and our Legion General Membership
meeting on the 5th of December. Look forward to see you all there.

From the SAL Commander
Just like that it is December! Snow, cold and wind had the Sons team of BBQ chefs missing the challenge of a
steak fry in a blizzard. Fortunately we scheduled the next Spuds Steak Fry for April 26th, so all of the Legion
snowbirds make sure to mark down the date.
The Sons will have an upcoming Meat Bundle Raffle, so make sure to ask the staff for tickets. Be sure to buy
early and often as studies show it betters your chances.
I would like to thank all of volunteers that made Veterans Day Celebration a very special day. Also the Sons
would like to thank everyone involved with the Holiday Basket packing and delivery for those that need a little
help during the Holiday season.. On behalf of chairpersons, Tom and Lisa Hyde we wish to thank all of those
who donated money and time. I feel this project best describes Post 305 and all the special people that make our
Post the best.
Please keep an eye on the calendar as there are many happenings coming up in the lounge to help cure the
