American Legion Post 305 - Febuary 2010
|
From the Legion Commander:
I would like to thank the SAL, Auxiliary, and Legion members of this Post for their outstanding
work on raising money and food donations for the delivery of food baskets to the deserving members
of our community. Jerry “Spud” Huver and Randy Eggers deserve a round of applause for the work
they performed organizing this special event. In all told the members of this Post delivered food
baskets to 20 families serving 90 people. I am told that this event will go on next year even bigger
and better than this year. Thank you all who helped in this event.
The Post on January 9, 2010, invited 31 veterans from the Michigan Home for Veterans to play
bingo for the afternoon. This event was very successful thanks to the many volunteers who showed
up to help. I would like to thank Chet Teater for inviting the Veterans to the Post and for organizing
this event. I have many people to thank from the organization known as the Marine Mothers for
helping the veterans play bingo, Three Brothers Pizza for their donation of pizzas, Chemical Bank
for their donation of money for prizes, and to the members of this Post for preparing lunch for all.
Thank you everyone who helped with this event.

From the Auxiliary
Hello Ladies!
I’d like to thank everyone that attended our annual Christmas Dinner. There were 24 participants
and some very happy 50/50 winners. A lot of fun was had by all.
Our first Euchre Tournament of the season turned out very successful. We had 7 tables and were
able to collect a substantial amount of money for one of our families going through a rough period
in their lives. I would like to personally thank everyone for their very generous donations. Our next
Tournament is February 6th (charity not yet decided). Then we will be having a soup cook off at
our March 6th tournament. And the Brown Bag Auction on April 3rd. Sign up always begins at
noon with play starting at 1:00pm. Appetizers are always welcome.
Our next meeting is scheduled for February 10th. Social hour is at 6:00pm and the meeting begins at
7:00pm. Hope to see you there!!
Make a great day…
