American Legion Post 305 - March 2010
|
From the Legion Commander:
Think spring it is just around the bend.
The month of March not only brings in warmer weather but also a full calendar of fund raising
events at the Post. We will be having Fish Fries every Friday evening beginning at 5:30 pm for all you
can eat at $7.00 a plate. We have been having a great turn out for the fish fries allowing us to make
more profit for the general fund of the Post. We will also be having a corned beef dinner with all the
trimmings on St. Patrick’s Day on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, beginning at 5.30 pm. This dinner
will be $8.00 per person but not all you can eat. As always we need your help to put these meals on
the table, so volunteer your time.
Our next meeting will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010, beginning with the social hour and dinner at 6:
30 pm and the general meeting at 7:30 pm. We will be having “Legion surprise” for our meal. The
Bar & Operations meeting will begin at 6:30 pm, Officers meeting at 7:00 pm, and the Executive
Officers meeting will begin at 7:30 pm on Monday, March 1, 2010. Please plan on attending theses
meetings.

From the Auxiliary President
Hello Ladies!
I would like to start by sending a big thank you to Penny Kirk and her team that set up our first wine
tasting event. I would also like to thank Cascade Winery for their generosity and assisting us with
putting together a delightful evening by all who participated. It was very successful and we plan on
having more events in the future. If you happened to miss this one, don’t miss the next one. I can
guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
Our next Euchre Tournament is scheduled for March 6th in conjunction with the Soup Cook-off.
Even if you are unable to play, plan on supporting the event by coming in and testing soup (you’re
also welcome to donate your favorite soup). April 3rd will be our final Euchre date and we will be
having our famous Brown Bag Auction. The Auction will begin around 4:30pm and the tournament
sign up starts at noon and play begins at 1:00pm. Appetizers are always welcome.
Don’t forget that we are always in need of your help during these busy months with all the food
functions. So come on in and help set-up, serve or clean-up. Many hands make light work!
Make a great day…
Kristen Lazarski
From the SAL Commander
Thanks to all those who participated in the benefits for Dan Stauffer and Roger Loring. Your
kindness, generosity and prayers are very much appreciated.
Nominations for officers will be held at our March 8th, 2010 meeting with elections taking place at
the April 12th, 2010 meeting and installation of officers at the May 10th, 2010 meeting.
The Post will be putting on the traditional St. Patrick’s Day Dinner on 3/17/2010.
Looking ahead we may have a Chili Cook Off in April 2010 so
Start practicing now. Also in April we will have our 100th Street Road Clean up and we are in the
process of coordinating this with the Post Spring Clean Up so stay tuned for the dates.
Our next meeting is 3/08/2010 with happy hour starting @ 6:00pm and the meeting starting promptly
@ 7:00pm. Because of popular demand we will be providing cheeseburgers during happy hour prior
to the meeting.

Hello Legion Riders......
Hope all is well! Riding time is getting closer, but I am tired of this white stuff.
Not much this month, other then to remind you about the Winter / Spring "Itchin To Ride" party on
March 20th. Games start at 7:00 PM and the band starts at 9:00 PM. Cost is $10.00 per person. I am
sure that the committee can use your help that night.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday March 16th, and we will discuss the final needs for the party, so
please join us.
